Biography:

Teaching interests include managerial and financial accounting. Research interests include capacity management, performance measurement, and financial modeling with numerous articles published in journals including Strategic Finance, Management Accounting, Journal of Accounting Education, Journal of Accounting Case Research, and Journal of Accountancy.  Jim is a Professor of Accountancy in the School of Business at Georgia Gwinnett College in Lawrenceville, Georgia, USA.  He concentrates on teaching managerial accounting and strategic cost management. During his teaching career he has held positions at Mercer University, The University of South Dakota, Chinese University of Hong Kong, and the University of Akron.

Jim has also been a regular Guest Lecturer at Berufsakademie Bad Mergentheim School of Business in Germany where he teaches controllership for the International Business Program.  Recently he was a visiting professor for the Wing Lung Bank International Institute for Business Development at Hong Kong Baptist University.

Professor Weisel possesses a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) from the University of Kentucky and an MBA from Marquette University. He is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Management Accountant (CMA).  Jim is President of SCM Consulting Ltd. where he focuses on management training for budgeting and financial analysis with a particular emphasis on leveraging the capabilities of Excel.  He also designs and implements lean cost management initiatives.  Jim is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the American Accounting Association (AAA), Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), and the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) where is currently the Vice-President of Communications and is a past-president of an IMA chapter.
